UV DTF transfers are designs printed with UV-curable ink on a special film, then moved onto an item by pressure. After you peel the film away, the decal stays on cups, tumblers, glass, metal, wood and hard plastic. They are also sold as UV DTF stickers, UV DTF decals or UV stickers, and you do not need a heat press to apply them.

UV DTF is not for clothing. For shirts, use our hot peel DTF gang sheets or ready to press DTF transfers.

UV DTF pricing and sizes

This page sells UV DTF as a gang sheet. A gang sheet is one sheet with many designs arranged on it, and you pay for the sheet size rather than per design. The only UV size on this page is one full gang sheet at $348.48, so that is the smallest UV order you can place here.

The sheet price is arithmetic: 7,920 sq in x $0.044 = $348.48. Example, not a quote: a 4 in x 4 in design is 16 sq in, and 7,920 / 16 = 495 designs of that size if they filled the sheet with no gaps. $348.48 / 495 = $0.704 per design. Real layouts need spacing, so fewer designs fit and the cost per design is higher. The more designs you fit, the lower the cost per design.

How to apply UV DTF transfers

We do not publish application steps on the product page, so these come from printer makers. They are general steps for UV DTF transfers, and your item, surface and design may need small changes.

  1. Check the material against the lists below. For anything unusual, test a transfer on a spare piece first, because printer makers recommend testing adhesion on your own material.
  2. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol on a clean cloth or an alcohol wipe, then let it dry completely.
  3. Peel the backing off the transfer to expose the adhesive.
  4. Position the transfer and press it onto the surface with light hand pressure. Roland DGA describes the step as light manual pressure.
  5. Press out air bubbles with your fingers and do not rush this step. eufyMake notes that trapped air can distort the design.
  6. Peel the clear top film away slowly and gently so the print stays on the surface.
  7. If the print starts to lift with the film, press it back down firmly and peel again from a different angle.
  8. On corners or irregular shapes, one printer maker says a heat gun may help lift the film. Neither source gives a temperature, and we do not either.

What UV DTF works on

  • Cups, tumblers, glassware and ceramics, which the product page, home page and Tampa page name as uses.
  • Glass, metal, wood and plastic, the hard surfaces named on the product page.
  • Gentle curves such as a tumbler, according to one printer maker. For a full wrap around a cup, see our UV DTF cup wraps.

What UV DTF does not work on

  • Clothing and other fabric. Use DTF transfers for shirts instead.
  • Silicone, flexible rubber or soft TPU, waxed or waterproofed surfaces, and heavily curved or compound-curved shapes, according to one printer maker.
  • The dishwasher. Our decals are waterproof and weather-resistant, but they are not dishwasher-safe.

Our FAQ also says that regular DTF transfers on hard surfaces vary in adhesion, and it points to UV DTF decals for hard surfaces.

UV DTF questions

How do I prepare a surface before applying a UV DTF transfer?

Clean and dry the surface first. Printer makers tell users to clean and dry the item before applying a UV DTF transfer. One suggests an alcohol wipe or a clean cloth with a little isopropyl alcohol, then letting the surface dry completely. Test on a spare item if you are unsure about the material.

Are UV DTF decals dishwasher safe, and can they go outdoors?

UV DTF decals from DTF-Prints.com are waterproof and weather-resistant, but they are not dishwasher-safe. A printer maker recommends hand washing decorated items. We do not give a lifespan figure for outdoor use.

What size can I order?

This product has one size, a sheet 22 in wide and about 360 in long, priced at $348.48. Each design has to fit within the 22 in width. You arrange as many designs as you want on that sheet, and the price stays the same.

What file do I need to upload?

The product page asks for a PNG with a transparent background at 300 DPI, sized to the exact print dimensions, in CMYK color mode. Our FAQ says we do not accept JPG files and that images under 200 DPI look pixelated or blurry. Our FAQ gives this rule for DTF transfers: do not mirror your artwork. Call us if you are unsure how that applies to UV. We print what you upload and do not edit artwork.

Is there a minimum order for UV DTF transfers?

The only UV size on this page is one full gang sheet at $348.48, so that is the smallest UV order you can place here. Our no minimums and no setup fee policy is stated for DTF transfers, so call (386) 327-0009 if you need a smaller UV order.

How long does shipping take, and can I pick up in Tampa?

UV DTF transfers need additional production time because of the printing and curing process. If you have a tight deadline, call (386) 327-0009 before you order. After your order ships, our FAQ says most domestic orders arrive in 2 to 5 business days by UPS, and we ship within the United States only. Tampa pickup is available at 9203 N 19th St, Tampa, FL 33612, and the site says to choose Tampa, FL Local Pickup at checkout.
